become problematic, especially for screw bosses that need to be slightly taller, since the condition W\u202f&gt;\u202f0.6T can no longer be met due to the draft angle and the resulting wider base of the screw boss.\u00a0<\/p><p data-start=\"133\" data-end=\"185\">For this reason, we have developed and successfully implemented the following design guideline for our screw uniform wall thickness possible with smooth transitions. This ensures that the \u201clargest possible enclosed circles\u201d remain nearly the same size. In the example above, we used the following values:<\/p><p>a = 1.0 mm<\/p><p>b = 3.0 mm<\/p><p>c<sub>above<\/sub> = 1.0 mm<\/p><p>d<sub>below<\/sub> = 2.3 mm<\/p><p>Width of the recess: 2.3 mm<\/p><p>With these values and a surface texture (e.g. VDI 3400-27) on the opposite side of the screw boss, we have had very good results, with no visible sink marks. The recess should be generously filleted to ensure smooth transitions.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cc26aaf data-start=\"133\" data-end=\"185\"><strong>Basic Design Guidelines for Screw Bosses in Plastic Components<\/strong><\/h3><p>The following general design guidelines should be considered during the design process.\u00a0<\/p><p data-start=\"187\" data-end=\"217\">1. <strong data-start=\"194\" data-end=\"217\">Wall thickness of the boss<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"424\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"218\" data-end=\"273\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"220\" data-end=\"273\">Recommendation: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The wall thickness of the screw boss should be approximately 50\u201360% of the nominal wall thickness of the surrounding part.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"274\" data-end=\"326\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"276\" data-end=\"326\">Advantage: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Reduces the risk of sink marks and internal stresses in the material.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"327\" data-end=\"424\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"329\" data-end=\"424\">Disadvantage: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Walls that are too thin may compromise mechanical strength. <\/span>\u200b<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"426\" data-end=\"450\">2. <strong data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"450\">H\u00f6he des Doms<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"659\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"506\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"453\" data-end=\"506\">Recommendation: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">The height should be 2 to 3 times the outer diameter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"507\" data-end=\"559\"><p class=\"\" rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Overly tall bosses can lead to cooling issues during injection molding. <\/span>\u200b<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"694\">3. <strong data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"694\">Fillet radius at the base of the boss<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"909\"><li class=\"\" data-start=\"695\" data-end=\"752\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"752\">Recommendation: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">A radius of 0.25 to 0.5 \u00d7 the nominal wall thickness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"753\" data-end=\"807\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"807\">Advantage: <span boss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1008\" data-end=\"1062\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1062\">Advantage: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Facilitates demolding and reduces tool wear.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"1063\" data-end=\"1164\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1065\" data-end=\"1164\">Disadvantage: <span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Insufficient draft can cause ejector issues. <\/span>\u200b<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1200\">5. <strong data-start=\"1173\" data-end=\"1200\">Positioning of the boss<\/strong><\/p><ul data-start=\"1201\"
