The Rail Monitor is used to precisely measure rail profiles and check them for wear. In this project, our primary task was to save weight and costs compared to the previous model. To reduce the weight to the limit, the parts of the housing are milled from solid aluminum, down to a remaining wall thickness of just 1.5mm, at a height of 80mm! To achieve this, the limit of what is possible was tested together with the CNC service provider and the design was matched to the optimal milling tools.
